Confession Time: I’ve wanted a generously large goose down comforter for years, but have failed to fulfill that wonderfully fluffy dream because I’m scared of duvet covers. Yep, scared. They are totally bewildering to me. I’ve looked at them with no understanding.
Yes, I see you’re a cover that protects my goose downy investment. Yes, I see you have tabs. Yes, I see you have room for a duvet insert. No, I have no flippin’ idea how you work.
Then I saw this:

A few days afterwards, I brought home a duvet-cover and couldn’t wait to try the YouTube burrito method (Garry and did it together the first time, but I have since done it several times by myself). It was SO SIMPLE!
What a relief! What a joy! What a simple way to protect that snowy white comforter!
NOTE: If your comforter doesn’t have tabs to tie the corners with, that’s okay, you can still use a duvet-cover. Simply insert as shown and give it a shake to smooth. Viola! Perfection.
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: Some companies that use goose down in their products use inhumane practices to obtain the feathers and down. It’s called live-plucking (I’m sorry to give you the heaves, but this is important). I knew I’d never be able to invest in a product that was the result of this practice, so I went online and did my research. The Pacific Coast Company (in email correspondence and through my research) advised that they DO NOT employ the practice of live-plucking.
What a fluffy comfy relief.
Anyone else out there who was/is as confused as I was about duvet covers?
Come on, tell me I’m not the only person who had no idea what the hell to do with them.

P.S. I think that maybe a comforter is called a comforter if it doesn’t have the tie tabs and a duvet has the tabs. Or not. Obviously, I’m still somewhat confused.
