Today, we’re going to take a look at three top brands of tumblers with double insulation: Yeti, Arctic and RTIC.

Everyone has their favorite insulated thermos, coffee travel mug, water bottle or tumbler, right?

At the moment, mine is the RTIC thermos, but I also love the KODI brand, which is made locally, from H-E-B, and not yet available on Amazon.

In order of preference for a steaming hot mug o’joe: 24 ounce ceramic mug, double-cupped paper with sleeve, then a double-walled stainless steel thermos.

Whatever I use, ceramic, paper or stainless, needs to do a few things:

I don’t use a Yeti or Arctic thermos at the moment (Garry and I both use and love our RTICs), but wanted to put them side-by-side to see if they could pass muster.

In a nutshell, the cups work by not allowing heat or cold to escape into the air.

Think of a cup within a cup (a bit like double-cupping at Starbucks), with one of those cups (the outside portion) being sealed with the air sucked out, so that when you pour a hot beverage in (or a cold one) there is no heat (or cold) transfer.

There’s no way the heat can escape, meaning hot thangs stay hot and cold thangs stay cold.
